The Heads of State of CARICOM have announced their ambition to achieve Freedom of Movement through the Caribbean Community by March 2024.

In a practical sense, this decision requires strong migration policies to be adopted, which strategically and intentionally utilize this ability to move freely as a tool to accelerate sustainable development in the Member States of CARICOM. There are also considerations relating to national security, contingent rights, access to services and other policy mechanisms to ensure maximum benefits for individuals and States, arising from the Free Movement regime.

IOM is working closely with CARICOM and the CSME Unit to support development of policies that will bring this ambition to reality.
