Las agencias especializadas del Sistema de Naciones Unidas cuentan con información valiosa sobre sus diversos temas de expertise, los cuales a menudo concurren con la migración. Su información es particularmente relevante pues responde a metodologías de alta calidad y trabajan con muestras de poblaciones variadas y en ocasiones con un número considerable de personas. La Biblioteca Virtual reúne los repositorios de las agencias de la ONU para incentivar la búsqueda ampliada de investigaciones que transversalicen la migración con otros temas relacionados con el desarrollo sostenible.

Mapping Jamaica’s Diaspora

In keeping with its mandate, the Internati onal Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) conducted a mapping survey among a sample of Jamaicans living outside of the country. The principal aim of the survey was to determine the location, interest and skills of those who comprise the diaspora.

Result of the national consultation process of El Salvador for establishing a position regarding the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration. The Government of El Salvador, by way of the Vice- Ministry for Salvadorans Abroad, requested cooperation from the IOM for implementing a national consultation process in order to formulate a national position of an inter-institutional nature to contribute to Phase I of the preparatory process for the Global Compact.

This Forum was organized to follow up on the Irregular migration flows to/within the Americas from Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean: Regional Report issued by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, within the framework of the Organization’s Permanent Council. Said Report was requested by the Government of Costa Rica in May 2016 in view of the migratory crisis faced by the country in 2015-2016.

Migration in the Caribbean is a growing challenge. The Global Compact on Migration (GCM) for a safe, orderly and regular migration presents an opportunity for the Caribbean region to include its significant, and particular, perspective, and experiences into the consultation process. The Sub-Regional Caribbean Consultation was convened in Trinidad and Tobago over the period November 27 - 28, 2017, and organized and facilitated by the International Organization for Migration with financing from the European Union. This document presents the results obtained from the thematic discussions.

This document is a non-binding guide adopted by the Regional Conference on Migration Member Countries. It seeks to establish regional guidelines for the comprehensive protection of migrant boys, girls, and adolescents, applying guiding principles and protection actions and strengthening the national efforts of each RCM Member Country and its institutions.

Additionally, the guidelines seek to be a model for changing the vision and approach toward migrant boys, girls, and adolescents, not only in the region but at a global level.

El Protocolo de Detección, Asistencia y Referencia de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes Víctimas de Trata de Personas forma parte de las actividades establecidas en el Plan Nacional de Acción contra la Trata de Personas y el Tráfico Ilícito de Migrantes (2009-2014) elaborado por la Comisión Interinstitucional de Combate a la Trata de Personas y el Tráfico Ilícito de Migrantes (CITIM). En este mismo marco se elaboró un protocolo específico para personas adultas sobrevivientes de Trata de personas.
